Efficacy summary for SEROQUEL XR (quetiapine XR)
Acute symptoms of schizophrenia
- SEROQUEL XR significantly improves the acute symptoms of schizophrenia compared with placebo:
- treatment with SEROQUEL XR once daily significantly reduced PANSS total scores compared with placebo in patients with acute schizophrenia
- treatment with SEROQUEL XR once daily significantly improved PANSS positive, negative, general psychopathology aggression/hostility and depression symptom domains compared with placebo in patients with acute schizophrenia.

Switching to SEROQUEL XR from other antipsychotics
- Patients can be switched from previous antipsychotics to SEROQUEL XR:
- Patients can be switched directly from twice-daily SEROQUEL to the same total daily dose of once-daily SEROQUEL XR without a loss of efficacy
- Patients can be switched from other antipsychotics to once-daily SEROQUEL XR over 4 days without loss of efficacy

Prevention of relapse
- SEROQUEL XR once daily reduces the risk of relapse:
- In stable schizophrenia patients treated with SEROQUEL XR once-daily, time to relapse is significantly longer and significantly fewer patients relapse compared with patients taking placebo
