- D2 (dopamine type 2) receptors
- One of a number of receptor sites in the brain where antipsychotics have antagonist effects, to suppress the symptoms of schizophrenia.
- Delusion
- A positive symptom of schizophrenia which manifests as a fixed belief that has no basis in reality and is not affected by rational argument or evidence to the contrary. People affected by delusions may be convinced they are a famous person or are being persecuted.
- Depot injections
- These are long-acting intramuscular injections of antipsychotics given every 1 to 4 weeks.
- Depression
- A mood disorder characterised by feelings of sadness, hopelessness, helplessness, and worthlessness. Sometimes physical symptoms such as slow movement and speech are also present.
